Welcome!

We have been in Jacksonville since 1821, and have a long history of Christian ministry in Central Illinois. No matter where you are on your faith journey, you are welcome at Centenary. Come as you are, as we’re a casual congregation.

Worship Times
  • Sunday Service – 9:00 a.m.
  • During the service, children are invited to come to the front of the room to join an adult for “Small Talk.”  Typically, this brief message is taken from a story found in the Bible and presented at a level that youngsters can better understand.  At Centenary, we not only want children to come join everyone and worship, but also to take part in the services.
  • Nursery available. Additionally, there is a “cry room” located off the southwest corner of the sanctuary having a speaker and glass wall where you may attend to little ones if needed while still being able to follow the worship service.
Communion

Centenary offers Holy Communion during both morning worship services on the first Sunday of each month.  It makes no difference if you have a church affiliation or not.  It does not matter if you are a member of Centenary or our guest.  All who are present are invited to the Lord’s Table with no one being turned away.  We also bring the communion elements to be served in the front pews for those who prefer.  White grape juice can be provided for anyone with allergy concerns.

Sunday School

Centenary provides Sunday school classes for every age each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. This includes classes for adults as we are never too old to learn–nor too young!

Accommodations
  • Accessibility/Mobility — Centenary’s sanctuary is on the ground level with no steps. Additionally, there are fully-accessible restrooms outside the sanctuary. We also have a fully accessible elevator that can take you into our education wing and office area.
  • Assistive Hearing Devices — During both the 8:15 and 10:45 Sunday morning worship services, Centenary provides transistorized units for persons who may have difficulty hearing the service.  Simply mention to an usher that you would like to use one of these units, and one will be provided for your use throughout the service.
Parking

Parking places are plentiful and always easy to find. There is a church-owned parking lot on the south side of the church, a no-charge city parking lot on the west side of the church, and parallel parking spots along East State Street—in front of the church. The main entrance to the sanctuary is at the south parking lot.
