Centenary UMC is “partnering” with Love Packages of Butler, IL to collect new and used bibles and Christian books, reference materials, bible study guides, children’s bible videos, etc. to send to people in other parts of the world who have little to no access to them. If you have “extra” Bibles or any Christian material that you can donate, please deliver them to the church office at 331 East State Street, Jacksonville. Monetary donations are also appreciated since each shipment costs approximately $5,000.

Thanks to the great response from the Centenary family, we were able to deliver about 800 items to Love Packages in Butler, IL on October 12, 2016. The breakdown was as follows: 160 bibles, 216 bible study books, 142 books by Christian authors, 30 bible references/commentaries, 20 children’s books and tapes, 204 devotionals, 10 hymnals/song books, and 5 items in a miscellaneous category.  After we had unloaded our materials, we were given the privilege to join others in praying over a large container filled with bibles and Christian materials bound for West Ghana, Africa! The joy and passion of the staff members and volunteers working and the effectiveness of the work being done was evident to all of us. We were doubly pleased to deliver checks totaling $537 to help with a future shipment. Thanks to those who helped load and deliver: Ken DeFrates, Rich Webster, Bob Northrop, Dale and Barbara Wooldridge.

Well done, Centenary!
